This November, we’ll be hosting free community health and wellbeing events in Nelson and Burnley. The events will offer residents practical advice and support to help them stay well this winter.

The Alliance is working with NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board, local councils, NHS trusts, voluntary, community, and faith organisations, and other partners to improve access to support and help tackle health inequalities.

Visitors will be able to access free health checks, speak to local health and wellbeing professionals, and find information about benefits and welfare support. A selection of refreshments will also be available on-site alongside several fun activities for children.

The events will also provide eligible patients* with an opportunity to access trusted immunisation advice and receive their Influenza (flu) or MMR (1st or 2nd dose) vaccination.

Both health and wellbeing events are free to attend, and open to visitors of all ages. No booking is required to attend the general health and wellbeing activities.

“With families and NHS services under pressure, prevention must be a shared priority. Bringing health services, councils and community organisations together helps us build trust, reach people earlier and tackle barriers to better health. By combining practical support with a welcoming, fun day for families, we can make vital services more accessible and strengthen the community partnerships needed to reduce health inequalities.” – Nigat Sultana (Chief Executive Officer) and Dr Yasara Naheed (Training and Education Lead), East Lancashire Alliance
