Winter resilience support

Supporting general practice resilience by offering additional GP appointments, especially when pressure on the system is high.

Our Service

Our Alliance provides additional winter resilience support to general practice during periods when pressure on the primary care system is at its highest due to seasonal infections and urgent same-day need.

We operate Winter Resilience Hubs offering additional GP appointments or, when funding is available, Acute Respiratory (ARI) Hubs to offer same day GP appointments for chest infections, coughs and colds – helping to relieve pressure on Primary Care and diverting patients away from Urgent Care or A&E.

Our service:

  • Provides additional capacity for acute infections and same-day urgent conditions.
  • Supports practices experiencing winter demand spikes.
  • Helps practices maintain core contract and local enhanced service’s delivery.
  • Reduces escalation of patients to urgent care and hospital services.

Last winter we delivered over 12,000 additional urgent appointments across East Lancashire.
